The Makran region surrounding Gwadar was occupied by unknown Bronze Age people who settled in the few oases. It later became a part of the Persian Empire . History records that this area was said to be possessed by a long list of rulers until the year 325 BC including the great Iranian king Kaus, and the mighty Afrasaib of TURAN.
Alexander the great incidentally found the sea in this area on his way from India to Macedonia and then for 22 years it was under the Macedonian's rule. After the collapse of Alexander's empire, the region came under local rule about 303 BC.
In the last quarter of the eighteenth century, Gwadar and its surrounding regions fell into the hand of Muscat , but after partition of the subcontinent, Gwadar and its surrounding regions were reverted back from Muscat to Pakistan .
